The Process of Clicking with an Aggressive Dog

CHAPTER 3

you need to find answers to your training questions. You may forget how far your dog

has come in the face of inevitable, occasional setbacks. Your training journal will

enable you to assess the situation objectively and plan your next step.

If you aren't certain how to assess and plan training sessions, use your training journal to

help you learn to observe your dog. Your dog will teach you what you need to know.

Write down your observations of his behavior, and they will become sharper. Study his

on the leash, and drag my dog away," "I change the tone of voice in which I talk to my

dog." These are your signs of stress. For your dog, they may be cues to be aggressive as

Work with each stress cue separately. To change the meaning of each event, perform

the stress signal in the company of your dog, at a very low intensity, and click and feed
